In the last number of "Plant Science Bulletin", the newsletter of the Botanical Society of America (BSA), Lee Kass and Ed Cobb published the paper titled "Landmarks and Milestones in American Plant Biology: the Cornell Connection".
In 12 pages, we learn about the many contributions of Cornellians to Botany, Plant Biology, Mycology, Plant Physiology, etc., how these Cornellians shaped their fields, led the way for the generations of researchers and were responsible for some of the most important breakthroughs in plant research.
In addition, the interconnections of the history of the Department of Plant Biology and that of the North American Botany are exposed: the original Department of Botany in the College of Arts & Sciences, the Department of Botany in the New York State College of Agriculture (NYSCA) today known as College of Agriculture and Life and Sciences (CALS), the different sections in the Division of Biological Sciences, the merging, the splitting, the transfers of people, ideas and material.
A nice recount of the heritage of all plant biologists at Cornell!
